Not painful at all, I love fall and the changing season, however, I don't want it to happen too fast!

Still no change here in northeast Tennessee at all... as expected. We typically dont see any change until early October. Peaking in mid-late October on average.

I saw something weird yesterday while riding a bike. I came across a couple of trees, one of which still had leaves but they were almost all brown, and the second tree already lost most of its leaves (a whole bunch of brown leaves were on the ground). The 2 trees were the same species (thought I couldn't tell which one).
This is weird because a) no other trees in the area even have begun turning color and b) even night lows have not been below 50F/10C yet.
Maybe the trees just got sick with something? A parasite of some kind?

I guess when observing fall foliage, it is particularly important to look that the forest instead of the trees

I wonder if it even dropped below 60F/16C yet?

I saw a tree with a few yellow leaves today, but then again a few leaves were always yellow on a lot of trees.

I am staying in a suburb in NJ temporarily. Here nights are cooler.

Just checked wunderground for NYC proper - nights on Sep 1st and 2nd were 57F.
Winter is coming!!!

Yeah the NJ nights are cooler, I'm still hoping for more 80's/90's (80's are more realistic lol).

My walnut tree has already lost at least half its leaves, though most other trees appear to have lost none so far. But this tree always loses its leaves early.

I saw some leaf turning in upper Pennsylvania this week. Mostly red leaves, I'm not sure of the tree species. Not oaks or maples, I do know that. Also the early leaf turning trees that are yellow and drop their leaves almost immediately. Sumac is also turning along the roads.

I'm going to ride through Point Beach State Forest today, I'll pay attention this time! In town, the leaves are falling without turning, due to the dry weather, I think.
