I can't believe how far reaching this arctic blast is going, very crazy. Usually they get some cooler temps then warm up.

This is stretching on for more than a few days, maybe it isn't record breaking but the number of days in a row is major, serious stuff, and life threatening.

Here is the same weather map in its current state, and this one will not update..

Notice the freeze across S. Texas? This will be the case for the next 3 nights... a rarity for this area (first time since 1989!!).

I know.... until today, we had been below freezing for about 6 days... very rare for Tennessee! These super cold snaps only last a couple of days... not 6. lol. Today it briefly warmed to the 30s... still about 16° below average.

Thanks for posting that map! What did you do... save the photo and post it?

It's snowing here right now. The cold is thanks to an arctic blast.

I live in NW Indiana. Tried to go to work today (29-mile commute) in blizzard conditions; gave up and turned back after an hour and a half and only getting 12 miles. Not super-cold yet (20F), but temps are supposed to drop all day and settle around zero tonight. I love the snow and cold, except for the hazardous-travel part! This is typical winter weather for "Chicagoland" (Chicago, her suburbs and NWI). For the life of me, though, I can't figure out why so many natives of this area STILL don't know how to drive safely on slippery roads. Duhhhh! It ain't rocket science!

This is just unreal!!! Did you see CNN's coverage of the accidents along a stretch of road in Atlanta? They had icy roads and it wasn't good. I can't imagine how many cars got wiped out.

We're done with our blizzard, but they had windchill warnings out. I don't know how cold it actually got last night, but windchill was minus 40 when I got up this morning. That's even cold for my area. Now it's heading east/southeast so look out if you live in that direction.

Yeah for places that aren't used to seeing/getting snow... most people don't know how to deal with it. Even here in Vancouver, when it snows, the city grinds to a halt which is unusual for a Canadian city...
I bet there are very few people in the Southern US who have snow tires and proper winter driving skills.
