Happy to have safely driven myself home from work on totally snow covered roads. Not any road, but the infamous "Cat and Fiddle" A537 road, most dangerous in the country. Didn't get above 40mph though, not in this snow.

I wouldn't dare driving in a snow storm on this road.

Btw, I saw my first snowflakes of 2013, kinda belongs to the happy thread.

That's not dissimilar to the roads I drive on. Basically, if driving on that in snow, you go SLOWLY. Kind of simple really.

Yup I remember going through some steep roads in Derbyshire, particularly this one. Kudos to you if you drive there in summer tires. I don't like driving in snow, but I wonder how different my opinion would be if the winters were wintry enough for me to bother changing to winter tires.

Yeah I use summer tires. They are fairly new ones though. I am pretty fearless on icy roads because I simply know what to do so it doesn't scare me. Can be a bit intimidating coming down a steep (15°) incline towards a bend covered in ice, however!!!

The snow everywhere is getting is too light and wet to be of concern. I was looking at it only seems to be a couple of cms on roads at most. When it gets to six inches then it get bad.

I CANT BELIEVE THIS!!!!

This was worth to go search for the happy thread!!

I was just SO scared about my elecriticty bill!!! As you know, i went and purchase my air conditioning in november (thank god for a/c) and was very scared of my elecritcity bill. I thought after purchasing it, that i was gonna have it at 23c (yeah right) all summer, only cause those days in november, if i set the a/c at 23c, my appartment seem to cool off fast. But, of course, i was wrong, cause the appartment heats up MUCH faster in January, than, say, in november. Its not about the outside temperature, but about the amount of time this appartment has been exposed to hot temps: so this same appartment in january will be much hotter than in november at the same outside temperature (35c in november after months of cool weather, can be easily solved with a 23c a/c, but 35c in january, after months of temps over 30c, requiere a temp much cooler than that to cool down).

Anyways, point is, i ended up setting the a/c cooler than i thought (mostly at 20c, really hot days at 17/18c), and, i used it a lot. Sure, i was careful not to leave it on ALL NIGHT (turning it on 3 hours before going to sleep and turning it off just as i go to sleep, while i turn on the fan), but i was scared anyways.

I thought EASILY my bill was gonna be $150/200, but when they bill arrived i didnt want to look at it cause i thought "what if the bill is $700?? or $1000??" I was scared as hell!!!.

Anyways, i just look at it and...........$40!!!! Yeah: fourty!!!! Only damn forty!!! without the a/c, i payed $20, with the a/c just 40????? To clarify $40 is like 6 dollars: for 2 months with the a/c full blast!!!! Now, how amazing is that? To clarify, the bill only comes every 2 months, so next one will be in march. Its $20 per month.

Now im just gonna leave it on all night, and not be as careful, i know the summer still has a long way to go and i wouldnt mind paying a bit more than this if it means i can use a/c as much as i can!!

Im shocked at how CHEAP this is! shocked!!!!
I LOVE A/C EVEN MORE NOW!

I just closed the windows even when theres a nice night out (for a change) with a breeze, and just turn on the a/c, now that i know is that cheap

Its really not worth it to deal with ALL the bugs that enter into my appartment if i leave the windows open
