I moved from Dallas to Miami-Dade 13 months ago. I'm moving to Delray this month after looking hard at every city from Lake worth to Pompano.

I was trying to find a beach community that was at least somewhat affordable in an area that was predominantly white.

Personally, I thought Lake worth, Lantana, Hypoloxo, Boynton were a little run down, Boca too expensive. While Delray isn't cheap by Texas standards, it seemed to be the best value in a city almost as nice as Boca.

Living in Texas all my life it's interesting the differences in Miami and Delray just 50 miles north. Miami is clearly in another country.

Now it's just a matter of learning Delray/Boca and hopefully my next 13 months will be more pleasant than my last. Miami is an ok place to visit but living here was not.

Living in and near downtown Delray affords a nice lifestyle. Walkable/bikable to the beach and river, as well as restaurants and amenities. Some great historic neighborhoods in the area as well. I'm sure you'll like it a lot!

I like it there. It feels a little like Plano, Texas. We ended up SW, around Lavars and Linton, behind the Target. I have a large dog, so our rental options were limted. I move in about two weeks.

1 mile to the beach, 1 mile to my son's work, 2 miles to downtown and 1/2 mile to i95.

That's also the best area I found in Delray for living conveniences. Most everything I will need day to day is 1/2 mile away or less.

It looks like a safe area, but this is Florida, go a few blocks and things can change in a big way.
