Thanks for the info. And the bickering over illegals! They are everywhere you know, have become part of the fabric (and work force!) of this country. I think its time people get over it!

sky: Thank you for your post. I'm coming to visit again soon, and hope that I can settle on a decision. The Raleigh area is nice, I'm just wondering whether "nice" is good enough. Being near the ocean is a huge plus for us too!

They are not everywhere, they may work everywhere but live, no and I can show you places where you won't see it, but it's a fact of life in Jupiter. Some people can't deal with it. The El Sol Resource Center is a hot debated topic. Just Google it and you will find out....

Yes, I know. Same in Westchester NY where I grew up. They put up a structure to protect day workers from the rain when they are waiting for work in a wealthy area. But, doesn't everyone want cheap labor? Its a hard subject. Obviously the government, both parties, don't mind because nothing is ever done about it.

Anyway, this is another subject. I love Jupiter and these things don't bother me. I grew up outside NYC.

Just wanted to know whether the atmosphere is a bit more lively than Raleigh. Raleigh very "nice" but a bit of a bore at times.

I've lived in Raleigh and stayed for extended time in Jupiter. With the large exceptions of no beach & a winter (mostly mild though) I have to vote for Raleigh. Of course it depends on your situation; I feel that Raleigh is a GREAT family town for schools, recreation, all the college infuences, etc. If you're retiring or have no plans to have family then Jupiter may work well for you.

As I said when I lived there "Raleigh is a Civilized town". Most is any of FL can't say that.
