Hi! My boyfriend and I recently graduated college and are looking to move somewhere. We both went to school in Boston and he grew up there. I’m originally from nyc. I am a city girl and love being around the action. I also love Boston. He just recently got a really good job in delray and I am closing out a deal on one soon. Is this a place where young people in their 20s live? Is there room for growth? What would you prefer? Any info would be appreciated!!

How much time have you spent in South Florida, particularly Delray?
IMO you may find it to be on the sleepy side and an older crowd.

When does your boyfriend start his job?

I went to school in Boston and am from New Jersey originally. I would say WPB would be a better fit than Downtown Delray. Another area to consider is Las Olas in Ft Lauderdale and many options in Miami.

Don’t know what your budget is but Delray is getting pretty expensive rent-wise.

Not necessarily a sleepy, older crowd anymore but a lot of the young people are there for rehab, unfortunately.

West Palm and Lauderdale are both better expense-wise, and that includes entertainment costs.

You might enjoy the area around Clematis/CityPlace in West Palm. Movies, bars, the newly renovated and expanded Norton Museum of Art.

I wouldn’t live in Miami unless you were willing to take the TriRail to Delray every day, which can be a pain.

Curious as to where you’ll be working...

Lots to do in Delray Beach for a young couple! Neighborhoods can be hit and miss, but otherwise you find lots of nice places to live. Might be cheaper to buy if you are a first time home buyer. Good luck!

I moved to Delray in my 20's (a loong time ago) and loved it! I used to hang a bit in West Palm on the weekends but always called Delray home. I feel like Delray is more well rounded, having a touch of everything and for every budget. I still live here and started my family here and never regret it!
