Did anyone see MoJo in the national governors association, natural resources committee, and energy policy initiative having their open hearings?

Some things you might be glad to hear;
He wants the federal gov't to sponsor guidelines and incentives, an idea echoed by all governors. Most governors agreed that states like West Virginia having to burden the cost of big changes alone in infrastructure was nutso. (<-- that's a low tech term for whackadoo)

There appears to be a consensus that coal operations needs to be modified (with gasification process) not abandoned. Manchin and Pa governor were backed up by big corps like GE in that assertion in a subsequent meeting with commercial providers represented.
The state level of governments and commerce seem to be marshalling efforts to get federal gov'ts head out of its butt. Looks like they're going to put pressure on Feds and/or our new president in 2009 for comprehensive plans.

One thing I did notice was that MoJo was only talking coal and gas, no mention of wind or geothermal or PV, despite the collective hearings emphasizing that broader diversity in energy capture was best for all.

Possibly, makes sense.

Geothermal is quite feasable along the western front of the Appalachians, lava flows along this plate line wick up to within 200 ft of the surface. Areas of Fayette county are off limits to drilling because of this feature.
As for windmills...we shall see several thousands of them shortly...last years legislature paved the way for these unsightly bird killers to be built in almost every concievable place...shortly we will be a state of transmission towers and windmills. A good thing about it will be the cheap land near these noisy wind farms..
If they great Poobahs were putting them on those flat desolate thousands of square miles in the southern part of the state where 'Mountain top mining is done...I wouldn't care...but this eyesore doesn't work efficiently and eventually, it will ruin the vistas that bring the good people (money) here...
As for MoJo..when in China 3 months ago, he asked the Chinese to come to Wv and build a few coal gasification plants here. This is coal to gasoline, ladies and gentlemen...the next trick is to fund them with public money and have MoJo's name on the deed...'Watch him pull the rabbit out of the hat...
MoJo is in this business...has a power plant in Grant Town...state of the art too...MoJo's coal interests are extensive and the Union miners love him at election time. One thing about MoJo...he is doing a lot to create jobs...he will get my vote for that...

MoJo up at batt again today- when asked pointed questions, he responded the same way you did DK- wants to put wind turbines up where coal tops are leveled (which makes sense to me). Perhaps he's reading this blog??? LMAO
Well, if you're listening MoJo, I would have prefered your answers to include real potential solutions you're considering without diverting peoples attention with a tourism speech. Diversion implies you don't know or have something to hide. Tourism doesn't belong on Cspan.

MoJo has an intern in Charleston who works the 'data mine'...you can bet your sweet bippy he gets the information and critisim from this and other blogs...
The big thing is this...he's no dummy and if its a good idea, he will use it...this state could sell gasoline, tell the federal government to go to hell and make its own way entirely...another version of Switzerland.

As the nation wastes away...the individual states will be forced to make do...Wv is one of the richest in the world, if you compare its resources to any country...Our future could be determined by a man just like Joe Manchin. We will see what the next 4 years does...as of now his track record does look good.

We need a long term plan for the state..gambling is a short term solution...Ohio and Pennsylvania will take their share of that money and those resources will dry up.

Our future lies in energy creation and water....look at Wv's location...over 60 million people within 200 miles...
