When I was in growing up in Elkins, and in high school, a group of friends and myself spotted like 10 police vehicles surrounding a blue van at Burger King. We decided to sit in a different parking lot and sit in my Jeep and see what played out. Well, it turned out drugs were involved somehow, and while the police were checking the van, they let the people go into Burger King. Except for one man, who had one leg, he stayed outside with the cops. Well, we watched as they were inside for 5-10 minutes then a white car pulled up to the other side of BK and they went right out the opposite door. Then we watched the man with one leg, hobble away from the cops probably about 20-30 feet or so, and the white car picked him up. When the cops realized they were missing they were all looking around and looking at each other dumfounded like, "which way did they go George? Which way did they go?" ha ha Well one officer spots my Jeep and decides to come over and ask me what I saw, and I told him I watched everything, including the one legged man escape from them, and the people go in one door of BK and out the other door into another car.
So then my friends and I decide to leave and I get a call about 20-30 minutes later on my cell from my mother. Apparently the police thought they should run a check on my plates to make sure I wasn't a criminal. My grandmother heard it on her scanner and then called my mother. This is just a fine example of our Barney Fife system of law enforcement in WV. I have never had a positive experience with a cop in WV. I fully agree that we have the worst police force in the entire States.
That story reminded me of the 'one armed man' who killed the guys wife and became 'the fugitive'...great story GHO...can you imagine the police report on that arrest that never happened...of course, those kids were the children of certain people in Elkins who would have been embarrased if anything had gotten out...its called protection.
BJC wanted to know what Massy monaco was...it was certainly a misspelling done in haste...Last year a certain southern Wv coal barron was vacationing in Monaco. At the same hotel/casino was a certain Wv Supreme Court Justice..who might have been hearing a case involving the first mans company...they happened to just meet by accident. Allegations were made that the cost of the vacation was being paid for by the other certain party....No one would have ever heard of the event, but some interested party sent a private detective to take notes and the rest (Photos) is history...I'm sure that the entire event will be chronicled in the next election...Just Wv politics as usual...but overseas now where the women are wilder and the booze is more expensive...

No, they were all middle aged, kind of scuzzy looking people, dirty clothes, etc. I was clearly the kid whose parents were embarrased about their son's name as well her her name being read over the police scanner.. ha ha ha
Possibly some of the illegals who were working there building the new Walmart....I know that Burger-King.
We had them here...living at the ******** as the Morgantown Walmart's were going up...and then living in Morgantown as the new Fairmont Walmart was being built. Always on the night shift and disapearing before daylight...about 60 total. I'm sure they all had temporary visas and documentation...yeah..and of course, Union Trades approval.
Once heard a story about the funniest excuse for a speeder. Cop pulls over a woman, she's half hysterical and holding the back of her head. She claimed to be shot in the head by a drive by shooting and was rushing herself to the hospital (with a head injury, one armed driving for the purposes of keeping her grey matter in place).
Cop looked at the back of her head- it was a big mush of Pop N fresh dough from a can. She had just come from shopping, it popped open loudly in her hot car, and hit her on the back of the head sticking in her hair. DOH!
Good day to be a cop. I'd say he dined on that story for years.
