One of the things that has always seemed peculiar to our eastern mountains of Hardy and Grant counties is the fact that on the side spines of the mountain faces, a temperature difference of 2* is constant..on the one side of the spine the oak and hardwood trees grown in profusion and on the other side of the spine (which is drier and gets less shade) the pine trees grow and dominate that side of the mountain spine.

Hope I've made myself clear...lol

Bunny I thought as you do now before deciding where to relocate. There isn't enough money in the world to compel me to live in Texas 114 degrees in the shade or upper elevations of great divide no matter how majestic the view. I started out with a hardiness zone map because I really have no tolerance for extreme weather anymore and charleston fit me fine that way. Not too hot, not too cold, goldilocks porridge is just right LOL.

National Arboretum - USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map
The more specific info is likely in 7ths links. Good luck finding your eden.

Hello,
I'm beachbunny's other half. Wanted to say that we too are having trouble viewing the maps from 7th but the sight you directed us to was useful. Double T proved to have some very helpful maps for us to look at. I had heard of the Weather Underground sight from a coworker but had not visited it until you suggested it. Thanks to all that have responded to our inquiries. We'll keep looking and maybe see you on the streets of your town soon. Decisions, decisions, decisions.
