+1 as to the need for a car, which is why I mentioned parking, since you will be purchasing. You could get by without one, initially, just renting when absolutely necessary, so that you do not sacrifice cash or take on new debt prior to closing on a property, but you would want to have one soon after relocating to Westchester, especially if you want to explore areas in the region, such as Connecticut, Northern Westchester, etc.
