Hi we are new to this board but we have been living (renting) in Westchester for 5 years. Now thinking to buy a house to settle down. One option we have is a house in Bedford corner, which shares Zip code with Kisco. The good stuff we like is convenient location for our work (railroad as well) and entertainment. But we also value school district and neighborhood, especially elementary school as our kid will be school age in 4 years. So our question is that, is West Patent regarded as a solid school? And how about Fox Lane Middle & High?
Our another concern is that this place is close to Mount Kisco (though convenient as I mentioned). Is or will this
Bedford Corner neighborhood affected by some issues that Mount Kisco is experiencing (such as illeagal immigrant, congestion, and too much commercial etc)?
Thanks a lot for your inputs!

I believe West Patent has a good reputation. It has a very large Hispanic population- I think something like 40%. Fox Lane Middle & High School are considered excellent schools. Check out schooltree.org, greatschools.net and you can get all the school info you need. I have a relative who recently moved to Mt.Kisco and she loves it, but I don't know much about illegal immigrant issue, which I know is a big one for the town, congestion, etc. Best of Luck!

Due to the need for cheap nannies, pool maintenance people, lawn and garden care people, house painters, laborers, farm workers, fast food, etc, in the area!

Pay more! Hire local kids! Save the area?

Just an idea!

Thanks for all of your inputs!
Sallyg, I checked out greatschools.net for the West Patent school, which scored 8 out of 10, not bad at all. Hispanic population is about 16% there, but not sure which year this is, and this number may keep going up in the years to come.
Are there any other things we should think about before we decide moving to Bedford Corner?

YES be prepared for continued tax increases with absolutely no transparency or accountability. As more illegals (non tax payers) enter the school district taxes will rise to make sure there is room and additional staff to keep up with the increase in population.

Bedford Corners is tiny rural area between Kisco and Bedford. There are still a lot of dirt roads. It's a great place to live, but the taxes will hit you pretty hard. There are not a lot of illegals living in that area, they mostly live packed into a few streets in Mt. Kisco, and in Bedford Hills. Do you know the name of the road?

West Patent is much better than Mt. Kisco or Bedford Hills Elem right now. Fox Lane is regarded as a good school, but the illegal population is growing fast, if that is an issue for you. I went to HS there in the 90's, as did my sister, and my brother is graduating from there this year. They recently renovated the entire high school, and have tons of activities and clubs, and a bunch of different educational tracks that depend on your child's needs. I'd recommend it. Just be prepared for high taxes.

I think people may be confusing Bedford Corners with Bedford Hills regarding illegals living in the area.

Bedford Corners is going to look like Tijuana?

Are you familiar with the area? I have a close friend who has lived in Bedford Corners his entire life, his neighbor is Glen Close. There are also no apartments over there.
