it's amazing, how different view of things can be. right now we have 3 poor trees in our backyard - what I miss, want and will have are trees, trees and more trees
overall I don't like this thread and can't see the benefit at all. It can bring out more negative atmosphere, one can imagine. I am not only for 'I love WNC, it's the greatest place on earth".
but, e.g. if I lived in murphy and someone said, he just hated it ... I would be offended or, at least, would like to know the reasons. and I might be trying to defend 'my town' ....

Bravo Queen ! this topic is set up to be negative. Getting long in the tooth and serves no purpose except to be negative. The OP started out with asking "which area do [we] think is overpublicized; not which area do people "hate".
PMA = positive mental attitude, and will take you anywhere you want to go.

NO NO NO /// leas favorate WNC spot is what the original poster asked
hello
OK Ody, doesn't amount to a hill of beans, but this is what I read:
"Which area would you consider the most over publicized? That is, where would you not wish to return?"
Whatever.
But I'll give my opinion and you can let me know what you think Ody. I believe Cherokee is over publicized and over-rated. I've been to the casino twice, with visitors who asked to go there. Nearly choked on all the smoke; and there were a couple of hookers in there following my friend around "helping" him learn the machine.. lol! The museum is nice, but nothing to write home about. The gift shop is nothing unusual. The restaurants in Cherokee are awful, and all the nik nak shops have junk made in China. So its not even on my list of "must see" places. Besides, who cares! NC is a beautiful state, I always want to explore the state and see more.
Thanks Ody,
I am the am the person who sent the original post. I definitely did not intend a negative response (such as I hate......). I love, love, love, the whole area of Western North Carolina. As you mentioned I am asking for the spot you think in overpublicized. As an example I love Asheville and West Asheville, but, I too think it may be a little overpublicized. I realize there is a fine line. My intent is to produce a thought provoking idea to those who reads the thread. An example is Black Mountain...it appears as though some people love it and others do not. Good food for thought, I would not head to the area and determine my our feelings. I do love Waynesville, it is overpublicized? No. I do agree with Quilter Chick and Cofga, the Cherokee area may be a little overpublicized. Again, the topic is to provide an opportunity to think. Not to knock the most beautiful area in the nation.
Biltmore estate is most expensive home tour.
$69.00 each just to walk through someone house is way to steep and even on the walk your limited with only access to a rope off area where you cannot even walk in the room or only able to peek in certain rooms.
Thanks Ody,
