we are in the process to make a final decision regarding our cell phone contracts.
there is an older thread about it here on CD, but maybe things changed .
everybody I know down in Asheville has Verizon - is the T-mobile and AT&T reception really that bad compared to verizon ?
what about sprint ? There are not too many happy sprint customers in our area in Delaware though ....
thanks for any input. having the right cell phone with a good coverage seems to be one of the biggest issues - for our teen-aged daughter
and actually for hubby too, since he needs it for work.
we are going to live in Ballantree, south Asheville.
Queen, I'd also recommend Verizon, especially where you will be living. We've camped in several areas in the Smokeys and Blue Rodge etc; including Bent Creek/Lake Powhatan and that is the worst area to get service in. No problem ever with Verizon; they have the most towers and you should be fine with them around here.
I have Verizon and it's been as good as it's going to get in the mountains. I remember asking the Realtor that I used a number of years ago about which provider was the best around A'ville. I figured he lived on the cell phone so he would have some insight. He told me that it was Verizon all the way for him. Any of the others had more dropped calls in the mountains than Verizon.
My husband and I live north of Asheville in the boonies by the national forest. I had to switch from AT&T to Verizon for any hope of cell service. It even works out in the forest. My husband has US Cellular, and it works well out here, too. The only problem with US Cellular is that their coverage isn't so great in other parts of the country. Unless you're really staying put and not getting out much, Verizon is the way to go.
short update on my original post: we decided to go with t-mobile at the end (got a great deal), just wanted to give it a try and did not have any trouble yet ! so it's actually not bad at all. just to give you an option.
I had verizon for the longest time and never had reception problems like everyone else. Now I have sprint and its a good deal, but when I travel outside a metropolitan or try talking to someone else with t-mobile, its no good.
