why does it always have such a negative touch if someone is renting/looking for a condo ? I have seen lovely one's and think it's better to live in a nice condo than in a park with single/double wides.
and, if it's 'only' a condo ... it's a beginning and some time later it will be a single family home with a nice yard. it just takes time.
I have driven by homes in the 120-150 k price range - rather would move to a nice apartment ...

where I am from, 80% of the people live in apartments

detroit, good luck to you !

I lived in an apartment here with my wife and newborn and the ever changing neighbors and noise rankled me. Im not saying all apartment or condo communities are like that but Im coming from an area where by the age of 17 I'd seen 2 dead bodies laying in my neighbor-hood and the evening news , without fail, had one murder or more to report every night. Where poople make noise just to mess with thier neighbors because thier a different color. It was pretty bad and as much as I am a social butterfly and love having good nieghbors I dont want to hear my neighbor stirring his coffee every morning you know lol. I know what you mean tho there are alot of nice condo's but We have a full sized German Shephard , a toddler and there will be my Mother as well so I have to builtd her a mother in law suite of I cant find a house with one. Condos and apartments dont like it when you try to add an addition.. as a general thing haha. I appreciate the info tho.

"streetwalkers, drug deals", Drug deals are bad enough but prostitution? Holy smokes! Maybe I was just too young at 14 to see it but I dont recall that being around in the 80's in Asheville. Judging from the house prices around here It looks like we will make around $30k profit off this little bungalow so with that we should have a hefty down payment on a nice house there. I guess it all depends on finding the right one and selling this one now.

Anyone know of a good trustworthy realtor who operates in Asheville/black mountain areas? i see alot on different websites but some have bad reputations apparantly. We need to find a 3 bedroom home in a good neighborhood with a mother in law suite.

ok, that's right, houses are built differently in germany, usually only brick. makes them very expensive but sturdy and sound proof too
