I have an aunt who told me I'd never like it here and never make the kind of money I was "used to". She and her kids lived here all their lives and I am a "transplant" for many reasons. Ended up making more money here than in previous jobs and more money than all her kids put together. You just never know. Murphy has become quite a progressive little town in recent years. Lots of us open-minded transplants here.

Check out Bryson City, has Smoky Mountain Nat. Park close by, also Nantahalla for rafting and tubing, it's a quiet little town and rarely snows.

thanks for all your help...can you believe my husband is looking in MInnesota too! The pay is more..but seriously COLD!!! you know with this economy we have to go where ever he/we can find work. Looks like we will stay thru the school year since they started already and then go in June..luckily we are getting unemployment, and he has picked up a few little jobs here and there. Hell at this point I am thinkig lets sell everything we own and live in a camper for a couple of years! I am so tired of worrying about bills!! Of course gas would be the bill with that idea

Do you check the realtor websites. I have found homes for sale around Blowing Rock/Boone that have come down quite a bit recently.
And you are right it is soo pretty!!

I've got friends in Brevard that want me to pic their town-and I love Brevard but I just am drawn to the higher elevation of the High Country. Decisions decisions.
Looking to move to wnc & love the thought of Brevard. Going in April! Can you give me some insights?
