If anyone is interested in what the new Blue Ridge Parkway bridge will look like. Those are 20'+ high retaining walls on each side of I-26 beneath the bridge.
I am deciding where to move to in the Buncombe, Henderson and Madison counties, once I start work in the Arden-Fletcher area and several members have suggested that I review this post.
After reading all the proposed construction, it appears there will be no area left untouched.
So depending on how close a home is located near these roads, it really determines how badly the initial impact will be and how property values will be impacted after all the dust settles.
In other words, no different than any other city experiencing constant growth. And for any city, growth is vital.

^^^ How much time have you actually spent here looking around ? You can drive around endlessly and not get the whole picture, especially if you are from a heavily populated area where one subdivision sort of blends into another. That is not to say that there has been a lot of slap dash subdivisions put up in the past 10 years, and not the most attractive subdivisions either. It is only the highway I-26 that will be under construction. As I've said before, a good Realtor for buyers coming from another state is invaluable.
We are not under 'constant' growth; the interstate has been needing more than 2 lanes each direction for years and 'permission' was long in coming, and engineering for heavy construction along the interstate is very different than anywhere else. Best wishes.
The remainder of the I-26 widening from US 64/Four Seasons Blvd to US 25 (Exit 54) has been delayed. Rebuilding the US 64 (Exit 49) interchange has been delayed from 2025 to 2027, and widening beyond there to Upward Rd and US 25 has been delayed from 2029 to unfunded.
Does anyone who lives in this area (Hendersonville/Asheville/Brevard) have any suggestions for a detour around the Peter Guice Bridge. More specifically if I am driving from Charlotte, NC on I-74 West to go to the Pisgah Forest and do not want to pass over this bridge, does anyone know of any shortcuts or backroads to get me to Brevard/Pisgah Forest wuthout crossing that bridge? Thank you!
