Looks like the OP stayed put and is still asking about TN locations in the Tennessee forums.

I still lurk here

Still very interested in the area but the more research I do even though I think I like the beauty of WNC more, I think it's less of a fit for my family due to a weaker job market and higher cost of real estate.

TN for now seems like it has many of NCs qualities that I like with more housing choices, lower cost of living and more employment options.

But believe me I'm still learning a lot.

You probably can't go wrong with ETN or WNC. Very much the same. I within a few miles of the ETN line, no difference in the many times I cross between the two states. I just ended up in WNC because it was more convenient for the family commute. I'm sure we could have found a comparable house in either location. We came for the Mountains, not the political climate, taxes or the amenities.
