Yes my impression is that a dehumidifier would be expensive. Thanks!

You're welcome! (PS: I have found I'm using my HVAC in the late afternoons now... )

I have three Frigidaire 70-Pint Dehumidifiers. One under my flatland house and one in each crawlspace in our mt. home. The one at the flatland house has run flawlessly for 5 years, the one's in the mts for two years at least.
They are on built-in humidistat operation to cycle on and off at 55% humidity. I also have them on Wifi CASA plugs so I can turn them on and off depending upon the outside temperature. They work great so far.
All three are on permanent drain lines rather than buckets that necessitate emptying periodically.

Sounds like you have a handle on it, getatag. Cool (and dry ).

Thanks to everyone for your replies. It sounds like as long as we have some airflow in the home and feel comfortable, we can open up the house and let Mother Nature do her thing, even in 70%+ humidity, without encouraging mold growth or otherwise damaging the home. That’s what I was hoping to hear, thank you!
