My husband is looking at taking a job in the Waukesha Wi area and we see that the cost of living is significantly higher than Louisville. Other than the cost of housing, property taxes can anyone tell me whether utilities or auto insurance and things alike are higher or lower than most places?

I own a 2002 Windstar and 2001 Taurus and the insurance is approx 1200 per year for just liability. Is that low or high for there?

I also have a 9 year old child so any information on schools would be helpful also.

Thanks!

I have lived in Waukesha for 11 years and I was a special education teacher here for almost 20. The town is an excellent place to live and most of the elementary schools are very good. Actually, we are relocating to Reno, NV and our house is for sale if you are interested. We lie within walking distance to the elementary and high school, just up the road in a very nice neighborhood. As far as insurance, we will be paying much more out in Reno than we are here and I know that the cost of gas is more out there as well. Hopefully that can help! Let me know if you would like more info. I know the area well!
