It's been too many years, but the best cheeseburger I ever ate up in Wisconsin was at a bar at the end of a lake north of Antigo Wisconsin. Washed it down with several Rhinelander beers. Man that was good eating. The bartender told me there was a good German butcher outside of town that he got his fresh ground chuck from daily to make them. They were made by hand to about a 1/3lb each, and open grilled right there at the bar. Juicy and flavor I won't ever forget. Naturally topped with some nice fresh Wisconsin sharp cheddar from a local factory. It don't get any better than that. It would be worth a drive all the way from Utah just to get another one of those bad boys

Thanks for the ideas and suggestions everyone, I can't wait to go back.
Dreamhunter, you know that's what I will be doing-we did it in October!
Ahh, it was Popeyes most likely. Pretty much the "it" place for the tourist crowd to go for dinner. It's an ok place. I've only been there a couple times. It's good, but not "standing in line for a table" good.

Sobelman's by far.

I haven't been to Red Rooster in Pewaukee for awhile, but they used to have one of the best 1/2 pound burgers. Now, it is called Andrea's Red Rooster...hopefully they still honor the same 'recipe', because they were very good...that was back in the day when the burger always had a pink center and you thought nothing of it!

I hate the Red Rooster. Overgrown McDonalds burger.

The best burger in Wisconsin is at either Sobelman's (the original) or at Kopps. They are two different styles but both to die for with a Sprecher root beer on the side.
