His ambition certainly is admirable and for getting a retail or similar job this could be very effective. This thread is old wondering how the OP is doing today.
My first thought when starting to read this (and seeing all the "bro's" and "dude's") was that it was written around two o'clock in the morning next to a smoldering bong with "Wish You Were Here," playing softly in the background.
But I read the entire piece and the sentiment was good.
The Takeaways:
1. Stay Motivated
2. Be Persistent
3. Target the jobs and companies where you want to work
4. (I thought of this while reading his piece too. This is a different version of his go-and-meet-the-boss advice) Continue to do the online application/resume, but make a second connection as well. Send a personalized second resume and cover letter to whoever oversees the posiition (requires homework). His advice about introducing yourself to the "general manager" would work well for retail-type jobs. Sending the resume/cover letter to the suspected manager could help for managerial and executive-level positions. Considering they are holding a pile of 100 resumes (at a minimum) for every position, it couldn't hurt to send a second one via regular mail, and a well written cover letter highlighitng where you can help could add horse power to your effort.
