I work in a diner, there are only 4 of us.

Another restaurant opened up and two of the girls are going to work there at night. The one girl is planning on going to days there in a couple weeks and quitting her day job here.

The owner does not know this at all. I know it is not any of his business what they do at night but to me it is deceiving him to know that you are going to quit and not give him the heads up.

She did say that she would give him a weeks notice but to me he should know already no?? just wondering.

The two women who are going to work at the new place at night are under no obligation to let your boss know of their plans. The woman who is planning on quitting has told you that she plans to give a week's notice. With all due respect you should stay out of it as it really is none of your business.

I think it is a matter of courtesy to give two weeks notice however if the worker expects any kind of favorable reference from the job.

I can think of many reasons why I WOULDN'T give notice such as maybe my hours would be cut back. Maybe I would be let go when I told them. Maybe the boss had been abusive and I do not expect any kind of reference from him/her.

Ya It just is getting my my nerves because both of them are dissing the place to me and I am going to let them know nicely to stop. It is valid complaints but if they feel that way be quiet and leave ya know?
