I worked there for about 2 months. From what I remember the sales 'experience' so to speak was very micromanaged, we were required to ask all customers a series of things of a checklist. We had a meeting every other week on a Saturday, that you had to come to whether you worked or not. The pay was very good along with the benefits package and pension. One of the few jobs left that provide any sort of retirement.
Due to the nature of a retail job it can get pretty stale and repetitive, also you are trapped generally indoors or in a mall with little to sometimes no natural light.
I hear that working at Verizon Wireless is better but this gentleman gives you a pretty good idea of what it's like working for Verizon Communications.
His testimony may seem hard to believe but I can assure you that in some ways working at Verizon Core is actually far worse than he describes. Even more troubling is the fact that this 'culture of retaliation' goes all the way up to the CEO which is shocking given that Verizon handles so many US Federal Government contracts.
I work for VZ communications. and yes...its awful. I agree with our customers but I have to bite my tongue. I work for a 3rd party so the pay is highly insultingly low. but...its a job and I have no other options.
I know of some people who have worked in Verizon Wireless even recently, mostly in sales at the booths set up in large retail box stores. Overall, I think it depends on where you are working within the company. The cellphone sales is all about numbers, but when it is not for selling?
I heard their benefits are hard to beat, but I don't have first hand information, just what people who have worked there have told me.

Do you know if VZ sales is commission only? I heard they get $200 per new account signup.

I think there is an hourly rate just above or around minimum wage, but if this has changed very recently, I am not aware of it. That commission sounds on the high side, but could be somewhat near it per new sale.
Wait retail or customer service? As in a call center?
