1. There are a lot more people applying to jobs than there are open positions

2. Some employers only hire based on employee referrals

3. Some employers only hire internally

4. You have to wait for someone to quit, get fired, or promoted to find a job.

5. Some employers interview process have three rounds which makes your chances slim of getting hired

So with all this is there really a surprise why people are unemployed for more than 6 months to a year??? Depressing time because seems like so many people lose sight of these five challenges that makes it hard for so many to find work right now.

Realistically, Wednesday is the last day for an agreement to be reached, and EUC is just a small part of it, tax rates are the time-consuming chore.

The SAME bill must be approved by both chambers, so we can figure on a full day of speeches being allowed. For sure, by 12/21, there will not be enough House members to have a legally binding vote.

So if BO and JB do not have a deal that both the Dems and mainstream Repubs find suitable by the close of Wednesday, the best folks on EUC can hope for is retroactively passed benefits sometime in 2013. They do not seem to be progressing as quickly as they did in 2010, this time.

And that is different than any other recession how? That's why it's called a recession.
2. Some employers only hire based on employee referrals
And, again, how is this different?

To gain perspective this is the first recession that EUC has been extended for so long so many times. It's arguable if the recession 1979-1983 was worse. People actually picked up and moved back then to where there were jobs.

Correct. Thursday would be for speeches on the floor of each chamber, while the Bill is formally written and added , in writing, to each chambers agenda for Friday. Friday would be the actual vote, which would include the required closure vote in the Senate allowing the bill to be voted on.

They will not be back next week. Consider this week a bonus for yourself; had the House stuck to its scheduled 12/14 recess, there would be no wondering about EUC. It would be dead until 2013.

I don't want to hear anything about relocation, not in the mood

More would do it now, if homes could sell.

Then you may very well stay unemployed. And, eventually, EUC will run out.

The people who want employment bad enough do this today. Realistically though, UI is keeping a lot of folks at least comfortable until something comes along. There are jobs out there, but most people do not want to do them. That's one reason why illegals continue to flood over the boarder.
