Does anyone know why we need to sleep? Doesn't seem to relate to working/not working. I know we need to dream and without sleep we go psychotic. So sleep does what?

What it does do is to keep us in one place, helpless and not moving for a space of time.

How would that help our survival?

You are willing to for go sleep to play on the internet, and talk on the phone? Are you in junior high, or are you just high?

With kids it all depends on when they go to sleep. I am usually in bed by the 11 o'clock hour, up by 6. Once or twice a night I might stay up till 1230 or 1 if there is a late game on, or if it is daddy mommy alone time.

Many of the people on here are very lucky...unfortunately, in my own personal case, it doesn't matter when exactly I go to bed, since if I don't get at least 10 hours of sleep a night, I always feel completely unrested and exhausted when I wake up the next morning (It's been that way, pretty much forever, for me.) Weekends are really the only time I can sleep in and truly feel rested -- the people who can get by on 5-6 hours of sleep a night and not feel like dead batteries the next morning, are very very lucky, IMO...

TVSG, this will catch up to you, I promise. I've done it, for the same reasons. You have got to be disciplined with yourself and get the sleep you need. Five hours a night is not going to cut it.

Keep this in mind: Even though the internet is active and things are interesting, it WILL be there tomorrow. Join the conversation tomorrow. Put it away at 10pm, get ready for bed, be in bed by 10:30pm and hopefully be asleep by 11pm to midnight. You will thank yourself the next morning if you do.

You get off at 5:00? Most of us go to bed around 10:00? Does it take you 5 hours to get home and eat dinner?

It took me less than a week to figure out that having to work at 7:30 meant going to bed at a decent hour. I was 24.

I get home at 5:30pm but I like to enjoy my time at home before going back to a job. I thought that's what everyone did
