Are these companies who hire them getting any breaks from the government, is that why they tolerate their presence?
Now you know why employers have several rounds of interviews, insist on conducting full background (including criminal & credit checks) checks and checking social media profiles.

Union jobs, depending on the type of company...
You forgot BANKS!!! The last place we would expect to see those types, like someone said already.

Some banks, yes. I know how you feel. I can't stand them either. The low lifes at the bottom of the food chain aren't limited to race or religion either. I see a whole spectrum across the board going in all directions. I worked a retail job selling furniture in 2008. I quit for a better job after 3 months. Somebody kept stealing from me things like tape measures, pens, calculators, writing pads, etc. There was a lot of verbally aggressive behavior, they were stealing clients, backstabbing, stealing other people's food from the lunchroom, drinking on the job, neck rolling, "hand in the face", hand on the hip, cursing, etc. I just couldn't handle the drama. It was like a juvenile hall.

I've seen some at banks and they were extremely ghetto. Since they have no real education and their worlds are so tiny, every interaction is seen as a "challenge" or "threat." Don't know how to conduct themselves like professionals or civilized adults. Also, saw this 1 teller start trouble with another street customer and I, seriously, thought it would come to blows or worse. Instead it just became a verbal battle over who would back down first. Another time, saw two baldies harass and throw gang signs at other office people.

The pay is crap-that would have something to do with it. When I started as a teller in 1992, my pay was 13,500 per year. Three years later it was 15,700. I left my third year for a receptionist job that paid 18,000 a year.

The company that I used to work at employees a lot of ex-cons, and people who otherwise couldn't get a decent job because of something they did (alcoholism, drug use etc...). We never had any serious problems. They would give them a couple of chances to straighten up their attitude, or in a few cases that I remember sober up or your arse is out the door. I think I remember my dad saying that they did get a little something back extra at the end of the year for doing this too.
