Starting a new job today, and I started a new ritual a few jobs ago. I go out for breakfast bear my new office. Maybe a coffee shop. Maybe something more formal. It helps to ensure I get there on time and gives me a few extra minutes to get into the mind set.

I also like to bring one small desk decoration and bring in the rest later in the week. Most importantly I need to bring one of my favorite colored ink pens to take notes with.

How about you?

Thankfully, have not started a new job in 6 years. Didn't have any rituals. That's a good idea to go out for breakfast, both just to relax and to also get there on time. Getting there on time is the absolutely most important thing. Whatever gets you there on time is the best ritual to pick!

I try to leave the ritual sacrifices until the end of the second week.

I make sure I don't have a colored pen for one, I also change any electronic documents from comic sans to something more professional.

When I started my new job I just made sure I got there early and went along for the ride.

I prefer something understated like Magneto or Showcard Gothic.

Default Lol

Everyone had their ritual. I'm aware of my coworkers' also.
I like to get my coffee, check my mail and stuff, go on conference call, then heat up my breakfast, then call and recruit, go bathroom, take a lunch break, you get the idea. Lol

My coworker goes to bathrooms at a certain time, put make up on, etc.

Yeah. The first thing to do, is enter the office and find the tallest, biggest looking bad-ass and sucker punch him as hard as I can. Then everyone else will know not to mess with me. Wait, that's first day of prison rituals.

For a new job, I make sure I bring enough cash so I can buy lunch and snacks. I also bring pens and pencils and a small paper notebook. I don't bring anything else personal with me to the office for a week or so. People who show up with a bunch of personal items, like a dozen cat pictures they immediately put up in their cubicle kind of signals to everyone they aren't there to do real work.

I'm willing to try breakfast bear no matter the occasion. I was invited to a bear roast when the Bears made the super bowl but I had scheduled my own party so I missed it.
