No Christmas bonus in the public sector. Schools may be closed the last week of the year, but most other agencies are only closed for Christmas Day and New Years Day.

My brother works in the private sector and gets the week between Christmas and New Years off. Not sure if he receives a cash bonus though.

I wish all companies closed for that week. God knows nothing gets done in my office during that time period; most people are off, and the only ones in the office are grunts without any PTO left or people who can't make decisions anyway.

Yeah, it's usually a quiet week even when the office is open. Good time to catch up on some filing and other matters that are often put on the back burner.

Usually 6% - 12% (depending on company performance) of gross pay for the year, - last bonus, - medical (they pay our med into our paycheck then subtract it). Paid in 1Q.

So typical bonus for regular hourly is around $8K to $10K (usually a 8% to 10% bonus). low managers <$20K to $40K depending on position, mid managers are closer to $100K and probably more. Above that level and your into the million dollar bonuses.

So if you work enough overtime you can boost your bonus quite high.

No, I've never worked for a company that gave us Christmas bonuses. I can only wish. I have a good friend who works for a company (insurance related business) who gives them a Christmas bonus every year so she gets a $5,000 check every year before Christmas plus her two bosses give her gift cards for hundreds of dollar each. It was about 5 years ago when she last talked so openly about it and she's still with the same company. I'm sure her bonus is even bigger now.

No. But once the hospital gave us a frozen turkey. After that they cut back to a gingerbread cookie and a cup of punch.

Crappy little bonus ($50-80), lousy dinner, and some cheap little presents. Far removed from where the company used to take care of its employees in the past from what.I hear despite record profits.

Now I see why people just live off the government gravy train as long as they can with the way most companies are today

Yea but you get a great retirement in the public sector. Nothing wrong with that
