how do employers react when telling them you were layed off 6 months ago from permanent job but in the intiim you have been temping and looking for permanent work. I have been out of permanent work 6 months but this crazy companyI tyalked about in my prior thread will vouch for me that I worked temp for them for the last 2 months.
I don't see temping as bad. (I'm one now and DAMN glad to have 'any job' let alone a temp one).
Look at it this way. Okay, it sucks you may not be 'full time' or get 'benefits' but you are WORKING. You are making some bucks every week. You have a sense of purpose as opposed to sitting on your backside dreaming of that 'ideal job' while flipping through tv at 9 am.
You are a productive person. You're scrapping for work instead of
1) living off the government or welfare or whomever
2) sitting around
Who WOULDN'T WANT to hire you?
Make sure you don't have 'issues' about other things and use 'temping' as an excuse WHY you haven't gotten a full time job.

How do employers react when you are working versus sitting at home not doing anything? I would think they would see you as a proactive person who takes control of his/her life, someone who WANTS to work, someone who is not going "waa, waa, waa, - woe is me." If I was in a hiring position, I would go for the person who takes a bad situation (unemployment) and makes it good. I don't understand who wouldn't??

These days a person needs to be grateful if they can land any job anywhere, this economy is terrible right now. I didnt really want to take a huge paycut (a 6.00 hr difference) but after being unemployed for 2 months, you better be sure I was grateful to grab this opportunity when it became available. Even with all the skill and qualifications under my belt, its still tough to find anything with the way things are right now. The good thing is, just like my last job, or any other, a person can eventually work their way up the ladder.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. You WILL make it even better than before. Wishing you the best!
