Amazing how people seem to interpret things in whatever flavor that fits their commentary. I said to bring it up in 2022. That could mean January, which is FIVE MONTHS ahead of his trip, hardly "without much notice". Unreal.

The Earth is round. Please discuss.

I wouldn't think it unreasonable as candidates do have prior commitments when taking a new job.
A coworker took 2 weeks off after starting the job we were at. He got engaged, made plans, but then got laid off at his last job. His start date for his new job (now, then) was when all the events were set to take place).

Yikes! Hate to be at those places! The ones I've been to just want to make sure you have the PTO is all.

You seriously don't know that they have two different meanings? You should probably learn that.

A Few: Here’s where things tend to get confusing. I’ve asked different people how many they thought the words “a few” referred to. Their answers varied. Some insisted “a few” meant three and only three. Some said it meant three or four. Or maybe more. The answer is that there is no hard-and-fast answer. What “a few” means to me might be different than what “a few” means to you. So, if you tell someone you’ll be there “in a few minutes,” the two of you might understand that to mean, say, less than five minutes, but one of you might mean something slightly longer. And someone who wants to borrow “a few dollars” from you may really only want three or four bucks. But maybe not.

A few people might be arguing over it but I wouldn't say "quite a few" people. Few would waste their time discussing it and even fewer would do google searches. Very few people care. Very very few.

arguing? Nope. I just think it is a funny explanation of something my teen and I have disagreed over many times. And I didn't have to google it because it's something I have bookmarked because I find the whole piece amusing. It comes in handy a lot more than you might think.

I have 6 weeks of vacation. I usually do two 2 wk vacations a year and burn off the other days individually.

I never took more than a week until I was 55. It was about then I got to 4 weeks PTO. Now, I would not want to take a destination vacation for less than two weeks. With one week it always felt like we were wrapping things up shortly after arriving. In a new place it can take a few days to get settled and get the feel of things and by then you're counting down.
