I don't actually work in the panhandle, I do the heinous commute to DC where I work as a govt. contractor for a federal agency (specialty is health communications). My new job will be working as an advisor for one of the UN agencies in Geneva. I'll contract from here for 6 months and then relocate to Switzerland in the spring. I can't wait!
Aww! Is it WHO? My sister works there and she absolutely loves Geneva. Good luck.
I've been demoted to $10hr. That is for medical collections. I was making $18.63hr driving a school bus. And yes, I have a associate's degree and I am 45. I am doing worse than I did at 21-I was making $10hr back then driving a school bus. It's expensive here in the Hudson Valley of NYS. My taxes last year for my home were $5200-that's going up and I've got no idea how we'll pay them.
My spouse was making $26hr back in 2008. He still can't land a job-anywhere and it's not through lack of trying either. He was with one company for 21 years-he wasn't fired he left-and yes he DID have a job lined up. But was in a head on with a moron that broken mulitple ribs and tons of cracks in his sternum-can't swing a hammer like that. He has his own business-he makes about $90 a call. But it's slim picken's this time of year for air duct/dryer vent cleaning.
We both make less than we did when we first married at 21 and 22. It stinks.
I'm salaried, but if you do the math it comes to $67 per hour.
I'm a software developer for a medium-sized but well-known company which I will not name. I will say that the code developed by my team is used by millions of people around the world.
