I'm a software developer for a medium-sized but well-known company which I will not name. I will say that the code developed by my team is used by millions of people around the world.
Hmmm... Salesforce.com? Actually met the CEO a couple years back, that's why I'm guessing that

Not a bad guess but actually, no. My office is ten miles from Salesforce's San Mateo campus, so we're in the same geographic area.

I'm also salaried in engineering (sales) around $55 and change, give or take a couple bucks depending on commissions.

How do you like that type of sales. I'm sure that it takes alot of talent to get into it... Is it very high pressure?

I'll clarify, it's sales engineering, not sales of technology. I support our sales team by architecting solutions that support the technology solutions the sales team sells. I write a lot of proposals, put together custom communications design packages, aid as the technical resource in customer meetings etc.

In this role I typically get a much higher base than the sales guys, but a much lower commission, which is just fine by me. It can be hectic when there are deadlines, but I'm not required to meet any kind of quotas and most of my compensation is salaried and fixed.
