So many kids graduate and think they are going to get teaching jobs. I just saw ANOTHER article online today about it.
I agree. I think in some way colleges should be held accountable.

I'd be interested in reading that article you found today if you remember it.

I can't recall if it was on Yahoo or some other main page. It basically said teachers were in demand...(again). I go to so many pages, I can't recall where I saw it but if I do I will link it for you.

How can teachers be in demand when so many states are cutting the budgets for school funding? Aren't they just adding more kids to the existing teachers' classes? I will google on it but thanks anyway.

I agree with you, puglywump. They're doing it in my township. They will be closing one school (elementary) and sticking the kids in the other 2, making the classes bigger. Several teachers will be eliminated.

Like I said, it's disinformation and just keeps the colleges filled. It's a sad state of affairs when getting a teaching job is like winning a part in a play on Broadway or in the movies.

I am a RN - I went to a CC ADN program and was baffled by the #'s of fellow students who already had a bachelors degree, a couple even had master's! Included were social workers, teachers, several liberal arts degrees, attending a CC program to get training for a 'real job.'

I also agree. I personally know too many people who are in financial trouble - much d/t student loan debt.

I have a hunch that the value of 'technical training' is being overlooked. I know of some mechanics, lineman, truck drivers, welders, ect who make darn good $ and are in demand.

Bad luck for the ladies. Most graduates are female and the gap is widening. Women always marry up. Guys with degrees will call the shots. Oh well, theirs always gay marriage.

It is. People want white collar jobs and working as a mechanic is considered blue collar. Even though it pays well.
