Has anyone on here ever been fired from a job? If so, did you tell your current employer about it?

Also, did you think being fired from a job, for non-criminal issues, causes a lot of problems when looking for a new job?

What are some of the best ways to overcome being fired from a job.

If it's from a big company, it won't matter because they only disclose dates of employment, not why you don't work there anymore.

I got fired and charged with trespassing, and it never caused any problems in future employment. The criminal record doesn't say I was fired as well (that would not be good ). As long as I disclose the misdemeanor for a background check, I'm fine.

With at-will employment laws in place in just about every state, it is pretty common for workers to be fired for the most innocuous reasons.

Don't volunteer the information. But don't lie either. If asked, find a way to couch it in a brief and positive way. 'health reasons' for example if they let you go for being absent from work too often; 'corporate restructuring' if you were fired after working there for many years, for example. Don't dwell or engage in lengthy explanations.

As they can fire you quite legally just because they woke up grumpy and decided they didn't like your face that morning - screw telling anyone you were fired.

Got fired for highjacking a customer's wheelchair once. No way could I explain that little incident.
