I haven't read most of this thread so I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but the sun still never sets on the British Empire. If you consider how far-flung our little territories are in terms of longitude, especially the Pitcairn Islands at 130 W and the British Indian Ocean Territory at 72 E, it is always daylight in at least one of them. Is there any other country which can say that, i.e. does America have any territories in the Indian Ocean / France anything in the Pacific?

France has a couple in the pacific, New Caledonia is the area I was talking about, it's about 1400km off the coast from Brisbane, much closer to the Australian Mainland than any point of New Zealand. French Polynesia is basically half way between Australia and South America.

Ah, I never really knew where some of these French territories actually were. It seems the sun has not yet set on the French Empire either:
Most of the time, there are two current days on earth (at this moment, it is September 21st on some of the planet and September 20th on the rest. But for a couple of hours, there are *three* current days. This happens because Kiribati is in time zone UTC+14. So when it's 10:01 a.m. UTC on September 21st, it's already September 22nd in Kiribati but still September 20th in American Samoa.

New Caledonia is also closer to NZ than any part of the Australian mainland.
