Because everyone of us are Jesus freak conservatives who are obsessed with war, drive big trucks and scream "God bless America" all the time.
Depends on what part of America you're talking about. In the more liberal places (read: higher GDP per capita places), this kind of thing is highly diminished - if it exists at all.
Seriously though, its just a big, important and popular country that everyone likes to talk about. some are jealous, some are obsessed and some truly just can't stand us. Problem is outsiders seem to think we all love and happy with our politics. lol, even with the past election everyone thinks we're all crazy bad republicans. (yes, my past post were sarcasm)

Obviously and thankfully not all republicans or it would be president Willard.
When my Canadian cousins girlfriend was coming here, she asked us "do they have cinemas here". Then she asked us "do you guys have bicycles?".
