I must second this! I've never taken so many pictures of another city in my life. Amazing architecture, food and people. Such an amazing place... I wish I were walking the Gran Via or Paseo Del Prado right now! Of course, i'm saying this as a tourist to the place - not sure how it is really like living there once the lustre of a visit has diminished.

New York City, for obvious reasons. It's only a 4-hour drive from where I live in Maryland.

But really, it's a tie between New York City, London and Paris. Any of these 3 will do.

At the moment, London, based upon 3 criteria:

Bariloche, Argentina

It was beautiful, the air was fresh, the people were cheerful and helpful, and the food was delicious and relatively cheap. Even though I don't speak any Spanish, I was able to get by with "hulk" English and on one occasion German (which makes you think about who you are talking to if you know the history of this city)...bottom line, I felt at home there and didn't want to return to my real home in the Chicago area. My next trip I hope to speak at least basic to intermediate Spanish.

The best city for me to live in? Montréal, Québec.

Very gay friendly, attractive and interesting people, affordability of housing stock is the best of any major Canadian city, and I am very passionate about the French language, so that makes things even sweeter. I have had the priviledge of travelling to more than 15 countries in my short life and I must say Montréal has me addicted like a drug. I can't say that about any other city!

Agree with what was said before. Chicago crime is overblown.

For me Chicago (obviously)
Other runner ups:
Santiago, Buenos Aires and San Francisco
