The drug problem in Uruguay is Pasta Base, so legalized cannabis does nothing to abate their drug problem. What is does do is to attract drug smugglers to funnel their product through Uruguay, which they had not done to date.

But, yeah, why not ship your illegal product through the country that won't give you any problems? And while you are shipping your pot, might as well throw the cocaine into the container that isn't going to be checked because it has been declared as legal marijuana.

Maybe Uruguay will be charging export taxes? Their import taxes are as high as 80%, so maybe they will tax marijuana as it comes into the country?

The Uruguayans already have the reputation of being non-working, so I suppose if they stay stoned, it won't make much difference.

Really the first thing you bring up is that he legalized weed?

I'm pretty sure hes nominated more for the percent of his income he gives to charity and all the work he does for the community.

I don't think Pablo Escobar was killing people over Marijuana
At least, it decriminalize the use of soft drugs like cannabis,so many people are in jail for smoking cannabis.
The objective is to make a difference between marijuana users from hard drug users.
