And internationally, for example in Chicago the majority of murders are gang violence that happens in a few blocks of the city, and while Chicago has a high murder rate per capita
I wouldn't really call Chicago's murder rate high internationally, I also think it's very overhyped in general.
Remember that alpha city stuff where they said it had the highest murder rate in that group? Although they're "alpha" cities and supposedly in better shape just have a look at some of the other cities on the official list. I count at least four elephants in the room on the 2010 ranking and three elephants on the 2012 [latest] one which was released early this year.
I beg to differ! It's dangerous for everyone that Kim Jong Un doesn't like! The problem is you can never be too sure until, sadly, it's a bit too late...
After reading it I looked up how safe Singapore is from crime compared to the USA List of countries by intentional homicide rate - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Wow what a difference! A murder rate of 0.3 compared to the 4.8 rate of the USA. And it made me see there are alot of countries out there that soooo much more dangerous than the USA.

Hongkong and Japan are some of the safest countries but they have a big mafia who involves in organized crimes mostly targeting the rich businessmen.
Afghanistan and Iraq seem dangerous but that is because of some terrorist attack/war zone, the place could be dangerous to foreigners but it could be safe to locals (?)
South American countries are known for drug related crimes, if you are not involved on these activities can the place be considered safe?
US is generally safe by world standards but there are issues of shooting spree and still there is no gun control policy.
In the Philippines, you can be robbed in the street but there is high chance that they wont kill you. That exclude the far southern part where terrorists can be found.
