It will be interesting to see how those trends impact on Australian's view of Europe. With our economic and political focus having shifted so emphatically to the Pacific Rim, I think we've become psychologically disengaged from Europe already, perhaps more than have the US and Canada. And with very few European born Australians remaining in the future.......

The weather sucks, but it also sucks in the UK. Assuming Australia is out, and the economy in Spain is too bad, then in Canada the standard of housing is much better than in the UK.

That's how we are, too. We put our focus on North America and the west Pacific, especially since our western states see more and more trade and contact with the economies of Asia. Europe is floundering and is an old man, not to mention the majority of our immigrants come from east and southeast Asia, and have been for a while now, longer than Australia.

No, the rest of Europe is. The UK almost does as much business with Germany alone as it does the US. Add in the other EU nations, and the UK is much closer economically (and by distance) to the rest of Europe. Over here, our largest partners are Canada, Mexico, and China. Even David Cameron says the UK must look toward Europe as its future, and this is why nobody is going to pull the UK out of the EU.

The winters here are brutal though for most of the Country, unless you live on the West Coast.

UK is much warmer in winter.

Last winter aside I don't really mind the winters we have in Toronto which are similar to the U.S Northeast - maybe a bit colder. Its really nice to get the variety of seasons. Its only cold 4 months of the year.

I was going to say that, too. Last winter was the worst in 20 years, but otherwise, here in Windsor isn't very bad at all. It's just damp due to the Great Lakes.

Windsor is one of the best located cities in Canada imo.. as you said because it isn't too cold but also what is in driving distance to you. 4 hour drive north east you got Toronto. 4 hours west you got Chicago.. You border Detroit (not as bad as what people make out and is still a big city) and literally a 4 hour drive south you are technically in the U.S south

Northern Ireland should go back to Ireland, where it rightfully belongs.
