Cabinda i know because i remember the Togo National Football Team having problems there with armed man on their way to the World Cup in South Africa
Pietermartizburg (i ****ed up the name ) i know because it was home to an Italian prisoner camp during WW2
By the way, i just checked and it seems Mbabane is in Swaziland and not in Lesotho , i probably remembered it because it was a capital

I thought Smirne was some sort of international name for Izmir mmm...

About Namibia it's easy, only 4 cities/town
Windhoek
Luderitz
Waalvis Bay
Swakopmund

Egypt:
Cairo
Giza
Alexandria
Port Said
Suez
Luxor (sometimes mistaken with Lex Lutor)

and then the numerous cities in the delta I usually can't recall anyone...

Morocco:
Tanger
Rabat
Casablanca
Fez
Safi
Essaoira
Agadir
Meknes

Sudan:
only 4
Khartoum
Ondurman (a giant city very close to Khartoum, basically one metropolitan area)
Port Sudan (of course the main harbour of Sudan gotta be named that way...)
Juba (only knew because it's the capital of new South Sudan)

Indonesia
:
I only know Jakarta

Philippines:
only Manila and Queizon CIty (spelled correctly?)

China:
Hohot, this place must be hot
Beijing
Shanghai
Fuhzou
Chengdu
Harbin
many chinese names are difficult to memorize...

You got Safi, Essaoira and Agadir... how can you forget Marrakesh?

Yes spelled correctly without the I.

You know Fuzhou and Hohhot but not Tianjin and Chongqing
I assume you see Hong Kong and Taiwan as independent countries.

Inner Mongolia.
The Japanese renamed the city in the 1930's, no idea why the Chinese didn't change it back.

Okay seems like a bit of an easy question, I think you should've had stricter parameters like non-capital cities outside United States and Europe, so that is what I'll do as more of a mental challenge.

Arab Emirates

Dubai

Australia

Sydney
Melbourne
Townsville
Brisbane
Perth
Cairns
Adelaide
Gold Coast

Argentina

Rosario
Cordoba
Santa Fe
La Plata
Mar del Plata
Bahia Blanca
Salta
Mendoza
La Rioja
Tucuman
Neuquen
Bariloche
Trelew
Villa Carlos Paz

Bolivia
Oruro
Cochabamba
Potosi
Santa Cruz

Ok I'm obviously pretty good at Latin America so from now on I'm going to discount LatAm also...

China

Hong Kong
Guangzhou
Shanghai
Macau

Japan

Nagasaki
Hiroshima
Fukuoka
Okinawa (or is this an island?)

South Korea

Busan

Philippines

Cebu city
Davao (I think)
Zamboanga
Boracay (or is this also an island?)

India

Calcutta
Goa
Mumbai
Kerola (or is this a region?)

Pakistan

Karachi (not sure but I think the capital is Islamabad)

New Zealand

Wellington
Christchurch

Syria

Raqqa

Israel

Tel Aviv
Nazareth
I don't think Bethlehem counts.

Egypt

Alexandria
Sharm-el-Sheikh
Hurghada
Luxor

Morocco

Casablanca
Tangiers

Tunisia

Carthage
Monastir
S'fax

Libya

Benghazi

Kenya

Mombasa (I think is in kenya or is it Tanzania?)

Nigeria

Lagos

South Africa

Have no clue which one is the capital but I'm just going to go for all of them

Johannesburg
Dresden
Cape Town
Pretoria

Equatorial Guinea

Malabo

Russia

St. Petersburg

Jamaica

Spanish Town
Montego Bay
Ocho Rios

Bahamas

Freetown

Canada

Toronto
Quebec city
Montreal
Edmonton
Hamilton
Vancouver
Saskatoon
London
Emersfield? Or something like that

I think I'm done.

That is the thing if one is thinking of names off the top of their head - as you say, quite often one doesn't think of the obvious names (eg I can now look back at D&O for the Aussie cities Inamed and think, why didn't I say Dubbo and Orange (much bigger towns) but Deniliquin and Oberon were the first towns that came to mind.

So

I'm always confused at names ending in -jing or -ging, sorry, Hohot is very recognizeable for the oddity of its name, I like Fuzhou because it has 2 giant rivers that merge when they reach the city, a bit like Pittsburgh, it a wonderful location, it has also a huge island in the river, if I remember well, pretty fascinating scenery.

Taiwan yes, HK so so...

Canada:fro east to west, roughly
Halifax
Saint John's
Chicoutimi (I know this because in the late 80s there was this tv serial about hockey players and they often talked about the team from Chicoutimi...it was a strange name and never forgotten it)
Quebec
Montreal
Windsor
Kingston (?)
Ottawa
Toronto
Oshawa
Missisauga
Hamilton
London
Sudbury (this is easy, basically the last popolated place after one leave Toronto and heads North West to other states)
Thunder Bay
Winny Puh-aehm I mean Winnipeg
Medicine Hat
Regina (it means Queen in italian)
Moose Jaw
Saskatoon
Calgary
Banff
Edmonton
Kewlona
Kamloops
the cities named after princes, Prince George and Prince Rupert
Vancouver
in the far north Yellowknife and Whitehorse
