Not really good, know a lot more cities/town in other continents.
Cabinda i know because i remember the Togo National Football Team having problems there with armed man on their way to the World Cup in South Africa
Pietermartizburg (i ****ed up the name ) i know because it was home to an Italian prisoner camp during WW2
By the way, i just checked and it seems Mbabane is in Swaziland and not in Lesotho , i probably remembered it because it was a capital
How do you know Zonguldak, Dyarbakir and Erzincan?
Do you mean Smyrna instead of Smirne? They changed it to Izmir in 1922.
Because they sound so odd to my ear that they captured my mind and don't go away
I thought Smirne was some sort of international name for Izmir mmm...

Okay seems like a bit of an easy question, I think you should've had stricter parameters like non-capital cities outside United States and Europe, so that is what I'll do as more of a mental challenge.

That is the thing if one is thinking of names off the top of their head - as you say, quite often one doesn't think of the obvious names (eg I can now look back at D&O for the Aussie cities Inamed and think, why didn't I say Dubbo and Orange (much bigger towns) but Deniliquin and Oberon were the first towns that came to mind.
You got Safi, Essaoira and Agadir... how can you forget Marrakesh?
I knew that, just forgot but I don't wan to cheat, I just write the names in that momenti come to my mind.
Quote:
You know Fuzhou and Hohhot but not Tianjin and Chongqing
I'm always confused at names ending in -jing or -ging, sorry, Hohot is very recognizeable for the oddity of its name, I like Fuzhou because it has 2 giant rivers that merge when they reach the city, a bit like Pittsburgh, it a wonderful location, it has also a huge island in the river, if I remember well, pretty fascinating scenery.

I assume you see Hong Kong and Taiwan as independent countries.
