Not sure if an entire country can and can not be called shallow. Even within the US, the degree of what most call shallow (based on the definition given) varies from place to place.

In Seattle, the lifestyle is very casual and the guy earning six figures cannot be picked out from someone barely scraping by. Compare that with a place like Atlanta where if you have money, you show it as a symbol of success which gives status. Very different cultures within the same country and there are various others in between.

It can't that's why I used the word culture which isn't the same as country.

England. Harsh judgements are constantly made regarding personal attributes; money, looks (big one), confidence and social skills are big things there.

If you are just average (or below average) looks wise there, you will not do as well as someone who is attractive/wealthy. Not much sympathy for the disabled.

It's the kinda place where someone who fell over in the street would get walked over or ignored.

Basically what I want to know based on your personal interactions is which cultures have you noticed tend to value physical appearance, how much money people have and status to the point of obsession?
England, England, England and England.
