Deep fried what? Popcorn? Are you serious? Popcorn is corn that is popped. It is not fried.
Yes I am serious , and it's awesome, but may be it's a regional specialty? Because I've tried it both in Wisconsin and Minnesota. I never asked for a recipe in order to not to overindulge lol)))

Store bought sugary sweets are terrible, for the most part, although have you tried Lundt truffles? It's American chocolate that is actually good!
Yes it's good, that's why you might want to learn more about it))
Small shops that made their own ice cream are good, I agree. Commercial ice cream is usually not very good so you have to eat premium brands like Haagen Das. Haagen Das is REALLY good and rich. And it doesn't contain hormones (growth hormones from the cows) like most of the other ice creams.
I was talking about home-made ice cream, but Haagen- Dazs is OK.

Maybe he's referring to kettle corn?? Or caramel corn? I've never heard of deep-fried popcorn either, and don't know why it would be sweet.

Of course, no American chocolate is really good, I agree, but at least Lindt manufactures its American chocolate here in New England. Stratham, New Hampshire. Home made ice cream is best.
From what I gather the name McDick's seem more common among Canadians who worked there. When I was younger I dates a girl for a good while who worked at McDonald's and also knew a bunch of people (connected to her or not) who also worked there. They referred to the place as McDick's, or sometimes Ronnie's or Rotten Ronnie's. This was in Ontario.
It might be very, very regional as well. Even your first link says that he heard it in the states, but is attributing it to Canada. So people read that and attribute it to all of Canada.
"Maybe it's because I live closer to the Canadian border, or close to a lot of immature college boys, but I've certainly heard this nickname used in the states. I've got to say, it's a creative use of the Mc- prefix..."

I think the US is the only place where you're routinely offered options in salad dressings.

I think the French have better ones overall. Although I do love a good old fashioned Waldorf Salad.

Well, no. It's the same in Canada..BUT it depends on the salad.
Australia? Someone can pipe in.
I know when I'm in France it's not an option,( or at least I don't remember it being one ) since they would wonder why you would order a salad if you didn't like the dressing it came with LOL.

Good to know. Are the options pretty similar?
What about the UK? I can't believe I never ordered salad there.
