Ya, that one had me scratching my head as well. I've heard Mickey D's, but rarely. I just asked my partner who has a lot of young people at work. Nope. Never heard any of them refer to it as McDick's.
I am willing to admit it's probably largely psychological, but one does get the impression that foods taste better when you're having them in the surroundings where they were created.

When I think of McDick's it makes me think of another venue perhaps

Probably mostly the case but in some cases the locals in a foreign country - particularly fast food actually do things better. I have to admit, on a recent trip to Thailand we did get a little sick and tired of Thai after awhile and needed to change it up. Anyway, we dropped by a KFC in Silom district and that chicken was better than I've ever had in Canada or the U.S. Not greasy at all and nicely seasoned. Only thing that sucked was the ketchup. That being said, Popeye's in the U.S is generally much better than in Canada. I think it all depends on the chain and even specific restaurant/franchise.
In any event, fast food is generally what the rest of the world thinks of when it comes to American food and that is perhaps a shame as the best food the country has to offer is anything but fast food.
From what I gather the name McDick's seem more common among Canadians who worked there. When I was younger I dates a girl for a good while who worked at McDonald's and also knew a bunch of people (connected to her or not) who also worked there. They referred to the place as McDick's, or sometimes Ronnie's or Rotten Ronnie's. This was in Ontario.
Lots of Asian's find U.S. desserts way too sweet for their liking. Do you think Europeans also think U.S. desserts like pie, cakes, cookies are too sweet for them as well?
YES.
And there is more than just "too sweet" going on here;
ingredients are not all that great (talking about the store stuff,) the flavors, the texture, and so that "intravenous shot of sugar" supposes to cover it all. ( Boxed chocolate candies are particularly bad I'd say - chocolate overall.)
Home made stuff is not too bad, but still... too sugary. ( The only honorary mention I'd say goes to deep-fried popcorn ( done right) and home made ice-cream. )
So apart from cheese-cake, if I want to indulge, I look for European-made sweets ( excluding Italian I'd say - those are way too sugary as well I've noticed. With an exception of tiramisu. )
And, as a matter of fact, my local Chinese buffet serves some excellent desserts, very comparable to European ones, reminding me of mentioned above tiramisu, and sometimes - excellent parfaits.

Deep fried what? Popcorn? Are you serious? Popcorn is corn that is popped. It is not fried.
Store bought sugary sweets are terrible, for the most part, although have you tried Lundt truffles? It's American chocolate that is actually good! Small shops that made their own ice cream are good, I agree. Commercial ice cream is usually not very good so you have to eat premium brands like Haagen Das. Haagen Das is REALLY good and rich. And it doesn't contain hormones (growth hormones from the cows) like most of the other ice creams.
My Children for a long time thought it was the real name. If you google image it, you will see that at some locations it is the actual signage.
