I think the United States is becoming stronger. It is just getting started and will remain a top nation for a long time to come, probably thousands of years.
Thousands of years is way too far out to make any realistic assertions, but there is a good chance that, yes, the United States is still in its early days in its history.

Best response to this question is: Agriculture and Military.
The US has plenty of both, the latter is always improving, the former could improve substantially (biggest worry is feeding soybeans to Chinese pigs, really?)
At the same time, lots of things could go wrong. In my view, biggest risk is if fossil fuels are significantly replaced by locally generated sources of renewable energy.
One of the biggest reasons for the fall of the Roman Empire in its north/northwestern quadrant was the inability to efficiently transport war materiel and food to the border (lack of overland transportation technology and energy).
Again lots of other things could go wrong besides agriculture, military, and energy, but those are the top three variables in my view.
The US grew alongside a fixed global economic theory, a dogma that, like monotheism, is considered self-evident simply because we were told such things. We don't yet understand Chinese thought except to regard any perceived oddities in it to be inimical to our interests. Aside from that, we regard China from a position of such pronounced ignorance, that this question cannot even be pondered.
How was Rome "top" for millennia? The empire which controlled most of europe was a force for 400 year at best, before that it was just republic controlling most of italy and a few others.
And while there's no single factor that puts Us as top nation they even have less nukes than Russia and less manpower in the army than China + poorer than 10 other countries and a fading popular culture compared to east asia...no control over bitcoin either...this is troll thread.

Wind your neck in, the USA is nothing like Rome or Egypt! They were regional states that, through conquering, murder & invasion turned into large Empires, controlling neighbouring states, they were products of their time, even the British Empire was inherently different and also a product of the times.
Let's be honest here though. The United States began as 13 colonies that had a land area of only 430,000 square miles along the eastern seaboard. The nation had a conquering and expanding phase until it reached its current size which is 9 times its original size.
There has been plenty of bloodshed in U.S. history. This is probably how almost all small nations turn into large, powerful ones. Thank God that the U.S. is finally a mostly peaceful nation today.
The United States currently has the highest GDP in its history.
That's true for about 95% of countries on the planet. As a proportion of global GDP though US GDP is getting lower, and it's a long way from its peak just after WWII when it was pretty much the only game in town with Europe, USSR, Japan, China etc all in ruins, I think it was almost half of total global GDP at that point.
The US will remain among the global top two for the foreseeable future but there's no way anybody can make a realistic prediction behind the next several decades, let alone thousands of years, that is simply hubris.

Yes. American share of the global economy has gone down, but that is due to the rise of other powers as opposed to an actual decline of the US.
On the other hand, there’s no way to predict what things would like in a few decades, let alone a millennium.
