Advertisements

On with her gown
And off with her shoes
Brenda Cliffman
Has the blues

Her friends are dead
But she is not
Summer breezes
Corpses rot

The long gone dead
Are bony sorts
Still so horney
Ghost cavorts

Two fisted soy dogs
And sweet baked beans
Midnight picnic
Beauty Queens

Two old miners
Gay they are
Ribs entwine
Like roofing tar

Kissing tongues
Imagination
Love is fine
No hesitation

Every night
They do this stuff
Brenda Joe
Will huff and puff

What's the gist
Of such a rhyme ?
Life goes on
Enjoy the time

C June 25 2007

Little boy,
With your face pressed up
Against the bakery window.

There are no jelly doughnuts here.
Only death.

Shadows fade. The sun obscured by nightfall,
surrenders to the deep hues of twilight.
In cloak of darkness, clouds begin to crawl
across the vastness of the starry night.
Soft-edged rumbles echo from distant hills—
cricket chirps rendered insignificant.
The encroaching wind interrupts the still
night's air—cowering trees are tossed and bent.
A dancing wind chime offers its own song
as, to the earth, sharp spears of light are cast.
Rage-riddled skies loose their invading throng
to the dust. Small liquid soldiers amass.
____Shy stars revealed. An end to the rain.
____Heralding crickets to sing once again.

silence sings on silver wings
stirs jewels in the dust
in the secret chamber of your heart

Dang. Nobody ever saw that episode of Happy Days when Richie went to a Beatnik poetry jam? I'm really disappointed in you guys.

Yep, I was really angry......

Perhaps by some unlovely shade of blue
The wounds you've inflicted will come back to you
And dare to endanger your ship full of scorn
While shifting your ballast of hatred so worn.

Perhaps by that time
You'll be reduced in the need
To deflate egos with all precious speed
And due to a lack of God-knows-what
A dirge will be played for you right on the spot.

And what is love
is it the glimmer
of an evening star
on the pale horizon?
Or is it the trailing dusk of twilight
that leaves me longing to kiss
the offered lips
of a new morning
after I've broken
all the laws of man and God?
a new dawn such as this
is like a dream
in the disolving mists
of a broken sky
where I no longer harken
to the whisper of strange shadows
while I look for and listen to
the first breeze that is summer
I go wandering for
the land known as Sunrise
where the gates of Paradise
beckon me as they stand ajar
yet, dare I believe
all the shades of fire and light?
or do I fall to the
muttering drums that beat
to stalk my weary soul?
