It's in the New Testament somewhere: Man looks upon outer appearances and God looks upon the heart. I am pretty sure these were the words of Jesus. Buy a Bible if you want to know. Google searches don't come out so well in this regard.

"Merry Christmas" - it just sounds friendly and upbeat!

Nope, God speaking to the prophet Samuel in the Old Testament when he goes to see Jesse's sons to find a king to replace Saul. 1 Samuel 16 KJV

6 And it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely the Lord's anointed is before him.

7 But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.

Pulled it up in two seconds. No need to buy a Bible--it's on the Interwebz in many versions.

When you're a moderator of the City-Data Religion & Spirituality forum and spend your time watching people fight using Bible quotes as weapons, you pick stuff up.

Me, too. Adults using baby talk annoys me in general.

Experienced some teeth-gritting when I first started going to Canada and heard "brekkie". It's common usage here. You will even see it on restaurant signs: "Brekkie until 11."
