I like "reckon" and "reckoning" personally. It's a very multi-purpose and useful word. Don't hear it too much around me though. Is it a regional thing? .
I know it's quite commonly used by the British, but in the US, is it midwestern, southern etc.? It seems generally rural-sounding to me.

The only time I hear reckon in the sense of "think" is in TV and movies. I've lived in the southern US for over 40 years and have never heard anyone use it.
In the media reckon is always portrayed as rural and/or ignorant. Ironically,it is a more generally accepted word in Britain, and the British are portrayed in TV and movies as being, another nice phrase , "high falutin'."
