I know someone who says that, also. She was in our office talking about someone she interacted with at the store, an elderly person, and she said maybe the woman had Oldtimer's disease. I winced because a lady on the next aisle has a mother with advanced Alzheimer's, so I cautioned her to keep her voice down because the other lady wouldn't find it funny...and my friend said, "What? Find what funny?" I said "You calling it Oldtimer's disease." She said, "Isn't that what it's called?" I said, "No, it is ALZHEIMER'S." She replied, "Well, I call it Oldtimer's."

Same person says "Valentimes Day". 49 years old.

---that's MY reaction too. It's hard to even talk to people like that. ValenTIMES Day? Baby talk at that age? Thick as a plank.

While I'm at it, I'm getting sick and tired of "gifted." Unfortunately, it sounds like it's here to stay but still, I'd rather hear someone say, "I gave." We already had a perfectly good word so why start saying GIFTED instead of GAVE?

And another one is "invite" as a noun. "I received an invite." What happened to the rest of the word? Do you mean an invitation?

But...it actually gets worse, thanks to tech-speak!
Recently, I have received a few, "e-vites" (translation: invitations via e-mail).

Why couldn't they be labeled as, "e-invitations"?

"There's a Rockabilly party on Saturday night,
Are you gonna be there?"

"I got my invite,"

"Gonna bring records?"

"Oh, will do,"

"Crazy,"

Many of you are just so wrong. Nothing wrong with that - it's just funny to see how wrong you can be in a thread with this theme. It's entertaining.
