As disturbing as it was to read reports about the heroin addiction problems of some of the parents with whom we dealt, it was additionally disturbing to see that many of the case workers spelled the name of that opiate as "heroine".

Then, we have people--many of whom should know better--who spell it as "herion".
Here is an example from a current thread about Mr. Hoffman's death:

"I used to work with herion addicts, and knew many who died of an OD. Addiction to herion is a death wish, as I found out many of my clients had."

Really?
You worked with these addicts in--apparently--a professional capacity, but you couldn't spell the name of the substance to which they were addicted?
Yikes!

Even though the price (and/or the person who posted it) is non-consolable , at least he/she did not refer to these items as Corning Wear.

"He's going to have to brake it off with her." (From this forum)

Hope this brake up doesn't involve a moving vehicle...

OK...this is really getting to me.
"this unfortunate case in B. C. needs posted IMO. " or "my house needs cleaned"
Where and why did this ever start or become acceptable?"
Did the words "to be" hit the censor's list?

Exactly!
If you browse through various automotive forums, you are likely to see people posting things such as, "the xxxxxxx needs replaced".
Whatever happened to the word "replacement", or the words "to be"?

While we are on the topic of automotive forums, you are also likely to see postings such as, "you need to change out your xxxxxxx".
Why does the word "change" need to be followed by "out"?

Similarly, I have heard many younger folks say that they would like to "change up" an answer that they had previously written or spoken.
Why does the word "change" need to be followed by "up"?

Apparently "to be" joined the censor's list around the same time as did the "-ing" ending.

Amen, and I also don't like "He went missing." NO - he IS missing. He didn't GO to a place called Missing! (If so, then they need to capitalize it, and clarify that he is IN Missing, rather than actually MISSING.)

Went missing is discussed back upthread a bit. It's a British idiom that has caught on in the US.

This was in the Exercise and Fitness forum, where people talk about neither, but instead the majority of the posts criticize one another's body shapes in the most crass of stereotypical terms. This thread is comparing women's body types:

just don't want someone that weighs more than me with utters
Guess he likes his women mute?

Damn, that makes me break (or is it brake?) down in tears.
